Abstract: 150 uomini e 1 donna ogni giorno scendono a 500 metri sotto il livello del mare per estrarre carbone, fin quando decidono di non tornare più nel mondo dei vivi per restare dove si pensa vadano i morti. Valentina Pedicini traduce in immagini il tempo sospeso di una protesta portata sino all’estremo e svela l’intimità dei personaggi in un raffinato racconto sotterraneo fatto di quadri che attraggono arcaicità e modernità. Dal profondo, infine, ci giunge un compiuto e toccante discorso sull’interazione tra donna e uomo.
Every day, 150 men and 1 woman go 500 metres under the sea level to mine coal until they decide they do not want to come back to the world of the living and stay where we think the dead go. Valentina Pedicini captures the uncertain time of an extreme protest and represents the intimacy of the characters with a very refined underground tale containing old and modern aspects. And it’s from the deep where we can listen to a touching and complete discourse on the interaction between men and women.
