Abstract: Fino agli inizi degli anni Novanta in Lettonia si continuò a produrre un cinegiornale, composto da brevi servizi documentari, destinati a passare in televisione o nelle sale, prima dei film. Girato con uno stile d'avanguardia, “Levitation”, uno degli ultimi esempi di queste «cronache», mostra gli abitanti di Riga subito dopo l'indipendenza, le loro speranze per il futuro e la loro esaltazione: viaggiano in tram, ma sognano di volare.
Up to the beginning of the Ninties Latvia kept in producing a showreel, made of short documentaries, in order to be released in television or in the cinema halls. Using avant-garde stylistics, “Levitation”, one of the last examples of these «chronicles», shows the inhabitants of the capital of newly-independent Latvia, their hopes for the future and the elation. They ride trams, but dream of flying.
