Abstract: Nell'ultimo censimento nazionale del 2001, a seguito di una campagna su internet, 390.127 adulti britannici hanno dichiarato che la loro fede era Jedi. In una città portuale ai confini di una galassia molto, molto lontana (il Galles, in realtà) due fratelli hanno fatto un ulteriore passo avanti e hanno fondato la Chiesa dello Jedismo, che ora conta 3.000 affiliati. Vivendo ancora a casa, e in una piccola città apparentemente ai confini del mondo, le aspirazioni galattiche di Daniel (22) e Brandon (28) sembrano in netto contrasto con l'ambiente circostante. Lo sviluppo del sistema di fede ha avuto un effetto molto diverso sui due fratelli: Daniel, autoproclamatosi Presidente della Chiesa, ha goduto dell'attenzione dei media e ha grandi progetti per il futuro della fede; mentre le seccature e il ridicolo hanno fatto sì che il fratello maggiore Brandon si sia ritirato dalle apparizioni pubbliche, e ora si sta dimettendo dall'Alto Consiglio. Nel frattempo, i genitori solidali Sonia e Kim, dicono che non rimpiangono che i loro figli abbiano iniziato la Chiesa e che continueranno a sostenerli. Un ritratto domestico sulla fede, la famiglia e il futuro, "At Home with the Jedi" incontra i giovani fondatori della più recente religione del Regno Unito e rivela una famiglia straordinaria le cui speranze di salvezza si estendono ben oltre il mondo come lo conosciamo.
In the last national Census of 2001, following an internet campaign, 390,127 British adults claimed that their faith was 'Jedi'. In a port town on the edge of a galaxy far, far away (well Wales, actually) two brothers took the joke one step further and established The Church of Jediism which now claims 3,000 members and counting. Sliving at home, and in a small town seemingly on the very edge of the world, Daniel (22) and Brandon’s (28) galactic aspirations seem in stark contrast to their surroundings. Developing the faith system has had a very different effect on the brothers: Daniel, self-proclaimed President of the Church, has reveled in the media attention and has grand plans for the faith’s future; while local hassle and ridicule has caused older brother Brandon to withdraw from public appearances, and he is now stepping down from the High Council. Meanwhile, supportive parents Sonia and Kim, say they do not regret their sons starting the Church and that they will continue to back them. A domestic portrait about faith, family and future, “At Home with the Jedi” meets the young founders of the UK’s newest religion and reveals an extraordinary family whose hopes of salvation extend far beyond the world as we know it.
