Abstract: Nel 2009, trenta anni dopo la caduta di Pol Pot, attraverso il Tribunale dei Khmer Rossi la Cambogia si confronta per la prima volta pubblicamente con le responsabilitā e i crimini del regime. L'avvio dell'atteso processo riporta all'attualitā e nei discorsi della gente il tema del ricordo, del lutto, della vendetta, delle speranze per un futuro che prenda esempio dal passato per non ricadere negli stessi errori. Insieme ad una equipe internazionale di cineasti, ricercatori e psicologi, i superstiti del regime prendono qui la parola e la videocamera. Insieme danno vita ad un film che č fatto, pensato, fotografato, disegnato da chi senta il desiderio o il bisogno di partecipare. Gli anziani soprattutto ricostruiscono e rivivono i loro destini personali, li regalano all'occhio della camera e ai loro nipoti, che finalmente cominciano a credere a queste storie dell'orrore.
In 2009, thirty years after the fall of Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge Tribunal brought Cambodia face to face for the first time with the regime's responsibilities and crimes. The start of the long-awaited trial brought the theme of memory, mourning, revenge and hopes for a future that takes its cue from the past to avoid repeating the same mistakes. Together with an international team of filmmakers, researchers and psychologists, the survivors of the regime take the floor and the camera. Together they create a film that is made, thought out, photographed and designed by anyone who feels the desire or need to participate. The elderly, above all, reconstruct and relive their personal destinies, giving them to the eye of the camera and to their grandchildren, who finally begin to believe in these 'horror stories'.
