Abstract: Alcuni islandesi mantengono una relazione forte e misteriosa con lo Snæfellsjökull, il vulcano-ghiacciaio situato nella parte occidentale dell'isola. Questo vulcano è universalmente conosciuto grazie a Jules Verne che lo indicava come la porta che conduce al centro della terra nel suo romanzo "Voyage au centre de la Terre" (1864). Questo reportage propone un'indagine che raccoglie testimonianze e documenti sulle leggende che circondano questa mitica montagna, trasportando i luoghi reali nel reame della fantasia.
Some Icelanders maintain a strong and mysterious relationship with Snæfellsjökull, the glacier-volcano located in the west of the island. This volcano is universally known thanks to Jules Verne who referred to it as the gateway to the centre of the Earth in his novel "Voyage au centre de la Terre" (1864). This report proposes an investigation that gathers testimonies and documents on the legends surrounding this mythical mountain, transporting real places into the realm of fantasy.
