Abstract: In una piccola chiesa di Halberstadt, nella Germania dell'Est, un organo a canne suona Organ2/ASLSP del compositore d'avanguardia John Cage - e lo farà giorno e notte, senza interruzioni, fino all'anno 2640, dando vita a un concerto lungo 639 anni. Con toni umoristici, ma anche riflessivi, il film mostra diversi lati di questo progetto sbalorditivo: da un lato le lunghe diatribe intellettuali tra i promotori del progetto, dall'altro l'approccio diretto e pratico dei volontari nell'affrontare l'enorme mole di lavoro che l'ambizioso progetto implica.
In a small church in Halberstadt, East Germany, a pipe organ plays "Organ2/ASLSP" by the avant-garde composer John Cage - and will do so day and night, without interruption, until the year 2640, creating a 639-year-long concert. With humorous but also reflective tones, the film shows different sides of this astounding project: on the one hand, the long intellectual diatribes between the promoters of the project, and on the other hand, the direct and practical approach of the volunteers in dealing with the enormous amount of work involved in this ambitious project.
