Proprio quando sta per appendere la frusta al chiodo, il prof. Henry Jones è costretto a tornare in azione a causa dalla sua figlioccia Helena. La ragazza, un'abile truffatrice, è riuscita a entrare in possesso di un prezioso e raro artefatto che suo padre aveva affidato alle cure di Indy. Si tratta del cosiddetto Quadrante di Archimede, un dispositivo che si dice possieda la straordinaria capacità di individuare le fratture temporali. Helena, è riuscita a rubare il quadrante ed è fuggita rapidamente dal paese, decisa a venderlo al miglior offerente. Tra questi ultimi anche Voller, in compagnia del suo lacché Klaber. In tutto questo l'agente governativa Mason segue la situazione e deve capire da che parte stare.
