Abstract: Quando un sentiero tra i boschi diventa occasione per riallacciare il filo di una relazione spezzata e mettere a nudo i suoi “come dovrebbe essere e non è”, incapaci di arare il campo sul quale crescerla e nutrirla, è un sentiero che si fa mentre si cammina. É ciò che Mariana e Miguel, padre e figlia, ignoti l'uno all'altra - se non attraverso aneddoti e ricordi lontani - imparano. Il passato sembra contare solo il tempo di estrarvi il buono e gettare via il livore. Una volta qualcuno ha affermato che “il Sud non è un luogo geografico ma un modo di sentire”. E forse è proprio vagando in questo Sud tutto interiore, camminando sui sentieri impervi e acuminati del rancore, che la ferocia di quel sentire può esser condivisa e mutarsi in speranza. (c.z.) “Abbiamo camminato in posti bellissimi, attraversato fiumi, scalato montagne e tutto per confermarci che la vita è veramente complessa, che lottare contro chi ha cercato di distruggerci fin dall'inizio, vale qualsiasi sacrificio. Che l'amore tra genitori e figli potrebbe essere differente da quello che tradizionalmente si insegna, e che tutti noi siamo responsabili della costruzione di un posto migliore dove vivere”.
When a path in the woods becomes a chance to reconnect a broken relationship and exposed its “how it is supposed to be but it is not”, because we are unable to sow the field where to grow it, it is a path we create while walking. This is what Mariana and Miguel, father and daughter, unknown to each other - apart from distant memories and stories - learn. The past is the time from which the good must be preserved and the hatred must be disposed of. Some said that “South is not a geographical place, it is rather a way to feel”. And it is probably traveling towards this inner South, walking on hard paths made perilous by rancors, that the ferocity of feelings may be shared and turned into hope. (c.z.) “We walked beautiful places, crossed rivers, climbed mountains and everything to confirm that life is really complex, that fighting against those who have tried to destroy us since the beginning of time, worth any sacrifice. That love between parents and children might be different from what is traditionally taught and that all of us are responsible of building a better place to live.”
