Abstract: San Cristobal del Las Casas, Chiapas, Messico. Alla fine degli anni 80' una stimata professionista uccide una bambina di quattro anni. Nei giorni successivi l’assassinio, la polizia registra le deposizioni della donna che racconta il suo inquietante punto di vista e le circostanze del tutto non convenzionali che l’hanno spinta a commettere l’omicidio. Exergo è un film liquido che scorre senza quasi mostrare un corpo, eppure al suo interno conserva in trasparenza, come in una collezione di provette, la serie di materiali sulla base dei quali costruisce il suo discorso. Prima di tutto il documento, la materia bruta, il fatto: la voce spettrale e ultraterrena della protagonista di questa oscura vicenda, le sue parole come tracce che tentano di esprimere razionalmente un irrazionale forse inesprimibile; poi l’apparato di testi scritti, gli “esergo” da Deleuze e Foucault, e gli “excursus” numerati, oltre naturalmente alle didascalie descrittive sulla vicenda, le parole, il linguaggio, il filo del pensiero. Infine l’emozione: in un apparato visivo perfettamente confezionato alludendo e ricalcando gli stilemi di alcuni dei recenti successi del genere horror, ripetendone la grana sonora come ambiente nel quale distendere la voce registrata, il giovane regista ricostruisce l’esatta atmosfera emotiva di un preciso modello cinematografico, veicolandone l’intensità in una direzione del tutto inedita. San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, late Eighties. An esteemed professional woman kills a four-year-old little girl. Over the days after the crime, the police record the woman’s depositions, describing her disturbing point of view and the unconventional circumstances that drove her to the murder. Exergo is a ‘liquid’ film that flows without almost ever showing a body, but it still lets through, as if in a collection of test tubes, the set of materials based on which the discourse is constructed. First of all, the document, brute matter, the fact. Then the ghostly, otherworldly voice of the protagonist of this dark story, with her words like marks that try to express rationally a possibly unspeakable irrational. Then the set of writings, Deleuze and Foucault’s epigraphs, the numbered excursus as well as the descriptive captions, the words, the language, and the thread of the thought. Last, emotion: the pictures remind us of the style of a few recent horror box-office hits re-echoing their auditory grain in terms of background for the recorded voice. The young filmmaker, in fact, has reconstructed the atmosphere typical of a precise film model, conveying its intensity in a brand-new direction. (s.g.)
