Abstract: Prima viene la parola: tono sprezzante, timbro profondo, forte accento working class del nord dell'Inghilterra.

The word comes first: scornful and deep tone, a strong working-class accent from Northern England. Then comes the image: a young man with a leather jacket is listening to a former inmate wearing a t-shirt in an empty and seedily lit living room. The topic of their discussion is Muslims in Great Britain and the protest that an organized group is going to display in most densely Islamic neighbourhood of the country. It is nowadays but it could also have been the Eighties, people are talking about Muslims but they could had been talking about the Irish or rival gangs. Officially, this is the tale of two teenagers participating in a popular protest, however, the film, in fifteen minutes time, becomes the portrait of the evolution of the environment, the mutation of anthropologic landscape and the journey to adulthood of a British small town boy. In his observation documentary, Christian Cerami employs subject film-making techniques, with a style using syncopated editing, music and machine movements, extending and compressing the emotional time of a sequence, intensifying and increasing the density of the inner sense of each shot.(s.g.)
