Abstract: Giugno 2000, municipio di Simojovel, nel nord del Chapas: alcuni poliziotti vengono uccisi in una imboscata. Alberto Patishtán, indigeno dell’etnia tzotzil, viene accusato della strage e condannato a 60 anni di carcere. Partendo dalla rievocazione e dal re-enactment di fatti che sconvolsero l'intera comunità, il film utilizza soluzioni espressioniste, sperimentali ed evocative per attraversare i luoghi del crimine immergendoci nei colori, nelle atmosfere, nei fantasmi di una remota comunità rurale del Chapas. In quei luoghi risuona ora un'assenza: un uomo incarcerato ingiustamente, la figlia in attesa, le lettere che riempiono un vuoto, che riscaldano. Le parole scritte comunicano forza e fiducia nella libertà e nella giustizia, aspettando di poter tornare, di nuovo e insieme, a bagnarsi al fiume.(s.b.) "Come utilizzare, all'interno dell'organismo del film, nozioni come resistenza, giustizia e libertà che avvolgono la storia di Alberto Patishtán, non solo muovendosi all'interno del perimetro dell'evento in sé per sé, già scandagliato e 'consumato', ma invece [ ... ] , dirigendo la ricerca filmica verso un a priori, una fase precedente ovvero le fondamenta biologiche della immaginario dove la motricità precede la sensorialità ?[ .. ]. Il cinema ha la capacità di liberare la vita dalle sue restrizioni."
June 2000, Simojovel municipality, in the North of Chiapas. A few policemen are killed in an ambush. Alberto Patishtan, a native from the tzotzil ethnic group, is charged with the murders and condemned to 60 years in jail. Departing from the re-evocation and re-enactment of events that upset the entire community, this film resorts to expressionistic, experimental, and evocative devices to immerse in the crime scene and the colours, atmospheres, and ghosts of a faraway rural community of Chiapas. Those places now resound with an absence, a man unjustly incarcerated, a waiting daughter, and letters that fill this emptiness, warming it up. The written words communicate strength and trust in freedom and justice, waiting for the protagonists to be able to come back and bathe together in the river.(s.b.) "How to exercise within the film-organism notions like resistance, justice and freedom which enveloped Alberto Patishtán's story, not only playing them in the convention of event/history already updated and consummated, but [...],direct the filmic investigation towards an a priori: a previous phase - a biological base of the imaginary - where motricity precedes the sensoriality? [..] Film can liberate life from its restrictions."
