Abstract: Khonsaly Hay è cambogiano. Era farmacista quando la rivoluzione nichilista dei Khmer Rossi si scatenò nella seconda metà degli anni Settanta. Come altre vittime degli orrori della storia, Khonsaly ha voluto dimenticare per trenta lunghi anni. Nel film incontra i suoi ex persecutori nell’intimità del villaggio in cui hanno vissuto, nello stesso quartiere, per anni. Lo seguiamo nel suo personale viaggio nel tempo, seguendo la trama dei suoi ricordi dolorosi ed oscuri. Il dialogo faticoso che instaura con sua figlia, regista del film, e la trasmissione della memoria si rivelano un percorso necessario e intimo. Khonsaly Hay is from Cambodia. He was a pharmacist when the Red Khmers’ nihilist revolution broke out in the second half of the Seventies. Like many other victims of the horrors of history, Khonsaly has tried to forget over thirty, long years. In the film, he meets his former persecutors in the closed atmosphere of his village. They have lived in the same neighbourhood for years. We follow him over his personal journey through time, on the tracks of his painful, dark memories. He establishes a dialogue filled with obstacles with his daughter, the film-maker, handing down his memory – a passage that is as necessary as it is intimate.
