Abstract: Un eroe è colui al quale vengono attribuite gesta prodigiose compiute a favore del gruppo che lo riconosce come tale. Gli eroi di M. Jiménez sono però senza volto. Giovani uomini sfuggiti al suo scatto fotografico, perduti per sempre sul fondo del mare e tra dune di sabbia, scampati ai flutti per raggiungere una terra che non offre loro che lotta. Ancora. Marzo 2008: circa settanta persone senza permesso di soggiorno organizzano uno sciopero della fame all’Église du Béguinage di Bruxelles coordinati dal Collectif des sans papiers en lutte (CSPL) e dai responsabili della parrocchia. È una delle tante lotte per ottenere domande d’asilo e regolarizzazione dei documenti: il primo atto del film. Nel secondo gli eroi trovano rifugio temporaneo nelle tende del campo di Choucha, frontiera libico-tunisina: “Scusa se ti aggredisco, è l’unico modo che ho per parlare con te!” dice David. Anche il suo è un volto che resta ignoto. Lo stesso di migliaia di persone che tentano di sfuggire alla morte. Le loro gesta – universalizzate da un percorso filmico che ha la potenza della saga mitica – trovano nel racconto di un ragazzo camerunense l’epilogo al Trittico degli eroi senza volto, la ragione ultima e il favore di chi li riconosce tali: la conquista della loro stessa vita.
A hero is someone who is attributed prodigious deeds accomplished in favour of the group who acknowledges him as such. The heroes of Mary Jiménez, though, are without a face. Young men who escaped her photo camera, lost forever at the sea bottom and between dunes of sand, or survived from the waves in order to reach a land that only has more fight to offer them. Still.
