Abstract: Un film che è al tempo stesso – secondo un procedimento tipico di Di Tella – il racconto di un’epoca e la narrazione di una storia nascosta o poco visibile, per quanto parli di qualcosa che ha dominato l’immaginario collettivo di una generazione. La storia del rapporto tra media e politica durante la dittatura negli anni settanta in Argentina. È la storia di un rapporto complesso tra censura e visibilità del pensiero, tra cultura del terrore e tentativi di resistenza, a volte minimi, quotidiani e personali, ma pur sempre reali. “Che cosa è successo alla cultura argentina durante la dittatura militare tra il 1976 e il 1983? Attraverso l’esame delle testimonianze e dei documenti del tempo, “Prohibido” allude alla propaganda che l’ultimo regime militare inseriva nelle canzoni, nella pubblicità televisiva, negli slogan pubblicitari e nelle esibizioni pubbliche dei suoi gerarchi, che ricordano l’uso dei mezzi audiovisivi nella Germania nazista e in altre dittature. Ma mostra anche il rovescio della medaglia: la resistenza di artisti, intellettuali e giornalisti che hanno cercato di parlare a voce alta” (A. Di Tella).
A film that is, at the same time, the account of a period and a narration of a hidden, hardly visible story, even if it is about something that dominated a generation collective imagination, through a cinematic technique which is typical of Di Tella’s works. It is about the story of the relationships between media and politics during the Argentinean dictatorship in the Seventies. It is the story of a complex relationship between censorship and thought visibility, between the culture of terror and the sometimes minimal, daily and personal however real attempts to resist. “What did it happen in the Argentinean culture during the military dictatorship between 1976 and 1983? Through the analysis of testimonies and documents of the time, Prohibido hints at the propaganda that the last military regime inserted in songs, in TV adverts, in advertising slogans and in its hierarchs’ public exhibitions recalling the use of audiovisual media in the Nazi Germany and in other dictatorships. But it also shows the other side of the coin: the artists, intellectuals and journalists’ resistance, who tried to speak loud” (A. Di Tella).
