Abstract: Il film reca nei cartelli dei titoli di testa l’indicazione: “Filmübung des 2. Studienjahres” (Esercitazione filmica del secondo anno accademico). Realizzato in 16mm, i cartelli dei titoli di coda indicano collettivamente i realizzatori, senza specificare i singoli apporti professionali. Ci troviamo a Prenzlauer Berg, Berlino Est. Un salotto, due ragazzi, una ragazza, una signora anziana, di origine polacca, divorziata dal marito. Delle foto. I ragazzi da bambini. Ricordi. Di cose che non sono più. I ragazzi sono Berndt e Norbert. La fidanzata di quest’ultimo si chiama Regina. Berndt e Norbert hanno avuto problemi con la legge per furto, ma da piccoli avrebbero voluto diventare poliziotti. Il primo si è introdotto in un grande magazzino, l’altro ha rubato un motorino con la complicità di un amico. Attraverso la loro vicenda, il regista mette in scena una differenza umana, sociale e politica non contemplata dal dogmatismo del realismo socialista. Una differenza non prevista la cui indagine costituirà la cifra dominante di tutto il lavoro successivo di Thomas Heise.
The opening credits in this movie say: “Filmübung des 2. Studienjahres” (Second academic year filming exercise). The movie was shot in 16mm. The end credits report the film-makers’ names collectively, with no specification as to their own role in the production. We are in Prenzlauer Berg, East Berlin. There is a living room, two boys, one girl, and an elderly lady of Polish origin divorced from her husband. Photos. The boys when they were little children. Remembrances, of things that are no more. The kids’ names are Berndt and Norbert. Regina is the latter’s fiancée. Berndt and Norbert have had problems with the law, even though they wanted to be policemen when they were kids. The former sneaked into a department store, whereas the latter stole a motorbike aided by a friend. Their story allows the film director to stage a human, social and political difference which was not envisaged by the dogmatism of socialist realism. This unforeseen difference will constitute Thomas Heise’s preferred terrain of investigation throughout all of his future work.
