Abstract: Nell'autunno del 2002 le mucche della fattoria Junkkonen vengono portate al macello. Gli ingranaggi del progresso vanno avanti, ma due persone di mezza età rimangono indietro, Maija e Pentti Junkkonen. Il piccolo comune di Oulunsalo sta progettando fabbriche, parchi commerciali e una nuova strada a 4 corsie che taglierebbe i campi dei contadini. I vecchi modi di guadagnarsi da vivere stanno morendo. La figlia maggiore, la regista Mervi Junkkonen, si rende conto che lei stessa è parte della ragione per cui i suoi genitori hanno deciso di abbandonare il loro sostentamento - non c'è nessuno che si occupi della fattoria. Attraverso i filmati 8mm di suo padre, riesce a intravedere la storia della fattoria e un tempo in cui era piena di vita. Ora Pentti (60 anni) passa il suo tempo con la sua collezione di trattori e un po' di agricoltura su piccola scala, ma Maija (55 anni) non sa cosa fare. Eppure, la vita continua a prendere pieghe tragiche e le vecchie preoccupazioni non sembrano più così importanti.
In the Autumn of 2002 the cows of the Junkkonen farm are taken to the slaughterhouse. The wheels of progress roll onwards, but two middle-aged people get left behind, Maija and Pentti Junkkonen. The small municipality of Oulunsalo is planning factories, business parks, and a new 4-lane road which would cut through the farmers' fields. The old ways of making a living are dying. The oldest daughter, director Mervi Junkkonen, realises that she herself is part of the reason why her parents decided to give up their livelihood - there is no one to take over the farm. Through her father’s 8mm films, she catches glimpses of the farm's history and a time when it was full of life. Now, Pentti (60), spends his time with his collection of tractors and some small-scale farming, but Maija (55) doesn't know what to do. Yet, life keeps taking tragic turns and old worries do not seem so important any more.
