Abstract: lIl regista Hugues Le Paige arriva in Toscana nel 1982 per girare un reportage sul ‟caso PCI e sul suo successo”. Là incontra Fabiana, Carlo, Claudio, Vincenzo. Un’impiegata, un operaio, un vigile, un artigiano. Età tra i 27 e i 44 anni. Comunisti, duri e puri. Come la loro fede di poter cambiare il mondo. Nel giugno del 1984 Le Paige segue i funerali di Berlinguer attraverso lo sguardo di quei quattro militanti. Le loro lacrime, confuse tra quelle di un milione e mezzo di persone, segnano l’inizio di un lungo legame. ‟Siamo diventati amici. Da allora sono tornato tante volte, ho seguito la loro vita, la caduta del Muro, le elezioni europee, la svolta della Bolognina del ’91, la cancellazione del termine comunista... E Berlusconi. Poi i movimenti di piazza nati sulla scia di Nanni Moretti...” Tutto visto, ripensato, commentato dai quattro che, in un’ora e un quarto di film, invecchiano di ventidue anni. Ma, fedeli ai valori e alle passioni di sempre, sono lì a proporci domande forti, insistenti, perentorie: cos’è successo di quelle tensioni morali, di quei progetti, nell’Italia di oggi?
Director Hugues Le Paige arrived in Tuscany in 1982 to shoot a report on the 'Pci case and its success'. There he met Fabiana, Carlo, Claudio and Vincenzo. A clerk, a worker, a policeman, a craftsman. Ages between 27 and 44. Communists, hard and pure. Like their belief that they could change the world. In June 1984, Le Paige and his camera followed Berlinguer's funeral through the eyes of these four militants. Their tears, mixed up with those of a million and a half people, mark the beginning of a long bond. "We became friends. Since then I've come back many times, I've followed their lives, the fall of the Wall, the European elections, the turning point of the Bolognina in '91, the cancellation of the term communist ... And Berlusconi. Then the street movements born in the wake of Nanni Moretti..." All seen, rethought, commented on by the four who, in an hour and a quarter of film, age twenty-two years. But, faithful to their values and passions, they are there to propose strong, insistent, peremptory questions: what has happened to those moral tensions, those projects, in today's Italy?
