Abstract: Nel 2002, il sottomarino nucleare russo “Kursk” affondò con tutto l’equipaggio nel Mare di Barents. Nonostante la versione ufficiale - l'esplosione accidentale di un vecchio siluro - le vere ragioni di questa tragedia non sono mai state rivelate. Quattro anni dopo l’accaduto, a seguito di una lunga indagine, questo film porta finalmente alla luce i fatti che accusano il pieno coinvolgimento degli Stati Uniti in questa catastrofe. I segreti che circondano questa tragedia costringono anche il nuovo presidente, Vladimir Putin, a rivelare la sua mano politica: la sua metodica ascesa al potere e l'impostazione delle sue strategie militari, diplomatiche ed economiche per dare alla Russia la statura che aveva l'URSS, sono strettamente legate agli eventi riguardanti il “Kursk”.
In 2002, the Russian nuclear submarine “Kursk” sank with all crew in the Barents Sea. Despite the official version — the accidental explosion of an old torpedo —, the true reasons for this tragedy have never been revealed. Four years later, after a long investigation, this film finally brings to light the facts that accuse the total involvement of the United States in this catastrophe. The secrets surrounding this tragedy also forced the new president, Vladimir Putin, to reveal his political hand: his methodical rise to power as well as the setting up of his military, diplomatic and economic strategies to give Russia the stature the USSR used to have, are closely linked to the events concerning the “Kursk”.
