Abstract: Rinomati sulla scena jazz internazionale, i fratelli austriaci Wolfgang e Christian Muthspiel si esibiscono come duo da più di vent'anni. Per la loro nuova creazione, hanno accettato la proposta del regista svizzero Pierre-Yves Borgeaud di tornare alla fonte della loro vocazione rievocando la musica che ha cullato la loro infanzia, la loro carriera e la relazione con il padre, morto tre anni fa. Con immagini di concerti, interviste intime ed eccezionali archivi familiari in super8, “Family Music” racconta una storia semplice e potente, evidenziando l'intima relazione tra la creazione artistica e la vita.
Acclaimed on the international jazz scene, the Austrian brothers Wolfgang and Christian Muthspiel have been performing as a duo for more than 20 years. For their new record, they accepted the proposal of the Swiss filmmaker Pierre-Yves Borgeaud: to return to the source of their vocation by evoking the music that they grew up with, their itinerary, as well as their relations with their father, who died three years ago. Mixing live recordings, interviews and Super8 films, “Family Music” tells a simple but powerful story that examines the link between life and musical creation.
