Abstract: Il 1° agosto 1949, Lucienne Schnegg entra come segretaria al cinema “Capitole” di Losanna. Per lei è una seconda nascita. Ad 80 anni, è ancora lì come direttrice e tuttofare. Ci racconta del suo cinema - il più grande; il più antico (1928); il più capiente (845 posti) - a partire proprio dal 1949 - gli anni migliori - quando il giovedì si faceva la fila per comprare i biglietti per il sabato, quando ci si metteva eleganti per uscire, quando si dava lavoro a 25 impiegati, compresi i 6 uscieri in divisa con il ruolo di maschera. Quelli erano tempi! Ormai l’enorme cinema non paga più, i distributori non danno più l'esclusiva per i film importanti, e l’esercizio si è ridotto ad avere solo due dipendenti.
On the first of August 1949, Lucienne Schnegg entered the “Capitole” cinema in Lausanne as a secretary. To her mind, it was her second birth. Now 80 years old, she is still around as Director and jack-of-all-trades. She tells us about her cinema - the grandest, the oldest (1928), the largest (845 seats) - beginning in 1949, the very best years, when one queued on Thursday to buy tickets for Saturday, when one dressed to go out, when there was work for 25 employees, including the 6 ushers in uniform just to seat the audience. Those were the days! Now, her huge cinema no longer pays, distributors no longer give exclusivity for important films, and she is down to 2 employees.
