Abstract: Un uomo, Boris Podnieks, padre del regista Juris, presta la sua voce ai cinegiornali del periodo sovietico, commentando e spiegando i benefici del socialismo reale, per gran parte della sua vita. Č una bella voce, rassicurante, riconoscibile fra mille altre. Anni dopo, colpito da un ictus che lo costringe al silenzio, impara nuovamente a parlare. Ma intorno a lui il mondo č cambiato. Una riflessione sulla manipolazione di uno sguardo documentario. Il film fu tra i maggiori successi del regista. L'impegno e gli sforzi per riacquistare la voce mostrati nel film rappresentano simbolicamente l'agonia del regime di allora. Con “Voice”, Augusts Sukuts conclude la sua carriera nel cinema documentario.
