Abstract: Un giorno Livia cade violentemente da cavallo. A soccorrere la giovane interviene un vigile del fuoco, di cui lei immediatamente s’innamora. Jean e Livia si scambiano per caso il numero di cellulare. Iniziano a scambiarsi SMSe così crescono le fantasie della ragazza, anche se l’uomo è sposato e mantiene un atteggiamento distaccato nei suoi confronti. Lei, distante e superiore ai compagni della sua età e con una situazione familiare difficile, persevera nella sua passione amorosa. Siamo nel Sud della Francia, l’estate è afosa e il fuoco è pronto a divampare. “La notte d’inizio delle riprese ci siamo trovati soli in mezzo ad un incendio nella foresta. Lì ho avuto paura e ho capito che cos’è davvero un incendio. Ho capito perché i pompieri ne parlano come un essere al singolare. Quando si è faccia a faccia con il fuoco, alla sua presenza immensa e reale, non si può trattenersi dal attribuirgli un carattere divino. È come trovarsi in un tempo antico, con le divinità, i mostri e i dragoni.”
One day Livia takes a violent spill from her horse. A fireman comes to the young girl’s aid, and she is immediately smitten. Jean and Livia exchange numbers offhandedly. They begin to write text messages to each other, and the girl’s fantasies swell, despite the fact that Jean is married and regards her coolly. Distant and superior to her peers, with a troubled family situation, Livia’s passion perseveres. In the South of France, the summer is sultry and the fire’s ready to blaze up. “The night of the first shooting, we found ourselves alone in a forest that had caught on fire. I got scared, and realized just what a fire really was. I understood why firemen talk about its singular presence. When you come face to face with a fire, with its immense, real presence, you can’t help but attribute a divine character to it. It’s like being in another time, with divinities, monsters, dragons.”
