Abstract: Seguendo le lettere dell'alfabeto, uno dei poeti più amati della Lettonia, Imants Ziedonis, autore, insieme al regista, della sceneggiatura del film, traccia il ritratto del suo mondo, dalla famiglia agli amici, alla donna amata, ai luoghi della sua ispirazione. L'artista rivela la sua personalità attraverso le immagini e i versi che le accompagnano, segnati dalla natura, dalla Storia, dalla memoria. Il film rientra nel genere ritrattistico, il più ricercato e frequentato tra i generi del documentario lettone negli anni Settanta. Imants Ziedonis, il celebre poeta lettone, partecipò attivamente alle riprese del film che racconta il dinamismo dello scrittore e la sua apertura alla vita. Per quanto riguarda la forma, il film è considerato uno dei più innovativi nel suo genere.
Using the letters of the alphabet, one of the most loved poets of Latvia, Imants Ziedonis, co-author of the screenplay with the director, draws the picture of his world, from his family to his friends, to the women he loves and the places he finds his inspiration. The artist reveals his personality through images and their accompanying lines, marked by nature, history, memory. The film falls under the category of portraiture, the most researched and popular of documentary genres in Latvia in the Seventies. Imants Ziedonis, the celebrated Latvian poet, actively participated in the making of the film, which covers the dynamism of the writer and his embrace of life. As far as form is concerned, the film is considered one of the most innovative of its kind.
