Abstract: Una donna qualunque (interpretata da Miou Miou) alle prese con i lavori domestici. In dieci corti Claire Simon racconta l’alienazione di una casalinga dissociata tra ciò che è intenta a fare (preparare una torta, lavare le tende, pulire la cucina…) e ciò che pensa (uccidere il marito, trovarsi un amante, fuggire da casa…). “Le storie che la donna si racconta partono dai gesti della pulizia. Questa era la base della messa in scena. Si trattava di una cosa puramente femminile – non credo che un uomo riuscirebbe a dire questo genere di cose. E si trattava del piacere di parole che non hanno un legame con la realtà. Questa posizione ha un rapporto con l’isteria perché il testo non è incarnato. Si tratta di cristallizzare delle parole che non hanno corpo” (C. Simon).
Picture a woman, any woman doing housework (played by Miou Miou). In ten different scenarios Claire Simon shows us the distractedness of a housewife disconnected from that which she is actually doing (making a cake, cleaning the curtains, cleaning the kitchen...) and that which she is thinking (murdering her husband, finding a lover, running away...). “The real stories the women tell lie beneath the actual overtures of cleaning a house. Cleaning was only at the base of what we see in the scene. It speaks about something purely feminine - I don't believe that a man has the ability to speak in this way. It also speaks of the complicity of words and gestures, when the actual meaning belies a different reality from what we actually hear or see. It's a bit hysterical to try to convey a meaning when the true words are not spoken. You have to capture the words being said without having the benefit of the actual text” (C. Simon).
