Abstract: L’ombra di un uomo con la macchina da presa. Una voce bambina racconta la scomparsa di due ragazzi. Parla come se fosse la madre dei due: preoccupata, racconta l’accaduto ad un presunto ispettore della polizia. Attraverso immagini di film familiari, telecamere a circuito chiuso e riprese in Super8 le ricerche hanno inizio. Si vede la bambina ripresa dal fratello, poi il fratello sorpreso dalle telecamere in un supermercato e ancora la bambina incantata di fronte agli schermi televisivi... Alla fine le indagini si stringono attorno al fratello. Ma l’ultima immagine della ragazza ci è restituita dalla telecamera nella metropolitana. “Ricordo che a quell’epoca, in quanto donna/ragazza, ero molto irritata dall’idea di essere una vittima. Era il momento in cui si erano verificate delle scomparse di bambini, con il caso Ranucci che fu condannato a morte, forse a torto, per aver ucciso una ragazzina. Ero contro la pena di morte, ma fortemente interessata dalla figura degli assassini. D’altra parte trovavo che in tutti i casi la posizione della donna era intollerabile. Non avevamo altra possibilità che di essere delle vittime. Sempre. È per questo che ho fatto il film” (C. Simon).
The shadow of a man filming behind a camera. The voice of a girl recounts the disappearance of two young people. She speaks as if she was their mother. Sounding worried, she describes what happened to someone, who is presumably a police detective. Through family home movies, closed-circuit television cameras and Super8 film shootings, its findings begin. You see the girl being filmed by her brother. Then you see the brother being surprised by a closed-circuit television camera, while the girl remains spellbound in front of the television screens... At the end the evidence begins closing in on the brother. The last image we have of the girl is captured by the camera in the subway. “I remember that in that period, whether as a young woman, I was very irritated by the idea of being a victim. It was a time when the disappearance of many children was confirmed. There was also the case of Ranucci, who was condemned to death, maybe without reason, for having killed a young girl. I was against the death penalty, but at the same time, very intrigued by the character of the assassins. On the other hand, I felt that in all the cases, the position taken by the woman was intolerable. We didn't have any choice but to be victims. Always. That is why I made the film” (C. Simon).
