Abstract: In treno. Veloci carrellate sulla campagna. Un viaggio a trovare qualcuno. In una camera giace un corpo incredibilmente magro. Un uomo lo sta curando con pazienza e dolcezza. Dopo essere stato medicato, massaggiato e vestito, l’uomo parla. E’ il padre, ammalato, della regista. Claire Simon lo riprende nell’arco della giornata: dalla colazione con il suo infermiere fino alle telefonate serali, quando per la figlia è ora di rientrare in città. “Un giorno mi sono detta che bisognava assolutamente che filmassi mio padre prima che morisse. L’imminenza della sua morte è sempre stata presente. Ho deciso di girare con una velocità impressionante. L’ho chiamato, sono arrivata e devo aver filmato tutto in una sola giornata. Anche questo film è legato all’idea di vergogna. L’ho mostrato poche volte” (C. Simon).
On a train. Speeding railway cars pass through the countryside. A journey to reach a person. In a bedroom lies an incredibly thin form. A man is being cared for with patience and tenderness. After he has been medicated, massaged and dressed, the man begins to speak. It is the dying father of the director. Claire Simon films him during his day: from breakfasting with his nurse to his evening phone calls, when it's time for his daughter to return to the city. “One day I said to myself that I absolutely had to film my father before he died. The imminence of his death has always been present. I decided to film him as quickly as I could. I called him. I arrived and had to film everything in only one day. This film is also connected to the idea of shame. I have shown it only a few times” (C. Simon).
