Abstract: Non c'è nulla di speciale nell'essere ciechi, tranne il fatto di poter contare sugli altri sensi e vivere in un caleidoscopio di suoni, forme, contrasti tra luce e buio. Tutte queste cose aiutano il protagonista a rivalersi sulla sua solitudine. Il film nasce a partire da almeno tre idee diverse. La prima è la storia delle mucche che vengono condotte al macello. La seconda racconta di semplici momenti di allegria, come quando ci si arrampica su una collina e si discende a bordo di vecchi carretti. La terza è sulla cecità. Queste storie sono unite in modo irrazionale: i grandi occhi delle mucche si intrecciano con gli occhi delle persone cieche. “La solitudine è stato il tema principale dei miei film per alcuni anni, è qualcosa che ci portiamo dentro fin dal giorno della nostra nascita. È qualcosa da cui non si scappa, per questo diventa molto importante trovare un modo per riuscire a conviverci: di fatto nasciamo soli e moriamo soli” (A. Stonys).
There's nothing special about being blind, except for the fact of counting on all the other senses and to live in a kaleidoscope of sounds, shapes, shades of light and dark. All of these things help the protagonist brave his solitude. The film grows out of at least three different ideas. The first is the story of cows being taken to slaughter. The second talks about the simple moments of joy, like the time one climbs a hill and descends on old handcarts. The third is about blindness. All of these stories come together oddly: the large eyes of the cows intertwine with those of blind people. “Loneliness was the main theme of my films for many years, it's something we are saddled with from the day we're born. It's something you can't escape, and because of that, it becomes important to find a way to live together: it's a fact we are born alone and die alone” (A. Stonys).
