Abstract: Tentando di testimoniare il processo creativo di Pina Bausch, il film ospita alcuni dettagli molto significativi soprattutto per coloro che hanno una particolare passione e interesse per la danza. Diretto, girato e montato da Huseyin Karabey questo documentario umile, semplice e lirico è una testimonianza di Pina Bausch che dirige il suo team usando semplicemente i suoi occhi e il suo processo di improvvisazione, che costituisce l'essenza della coreografia. Il progetto di teatro danza “Nefes”, realizzato nel 2003, ha ricevuto immenso interesse da parte degli spettatori. È stato ispirato dalla città di Istanbul e prodotto da Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, Tanztheater Wuppertal e Pina Bausch. La prima mondiale, tenutasi a Istanbul, è stato un successo al botteghino con spettacoli esauriti per un'intera settimana, in seguito è stato messo in scena a Wuppertal, Parigi, Berlino. Riflettendo le suggestive coreografie di Pina Bausch, "Nefes" continuerà ad essere mostrato in altri paesi. Il regista Huseyin Karabey ha colto l'opportunità di seguire la Bausch e la sua equipe durante le prove, un permesso molto esclusivo che non è stato dato a nessuno prima. La danza non viene spiegata, non ci sono dialoghi e, al contrario delle aspettative, di musica se ne sente poca.
Attempting to witness the creative process of Pina Bausch, the film houses some very signifìcant details especially remarkable for those who have a particular liking and interest in dance. Directed, shot and edited by Huseyin Karabey this humble, simple and lyrical documentary is a witness to Pina Bausch directing her team using simply her eyes, and her improvisation process that forms the essence of choreography. The dance theater project “Nefes” received immense interest from viewers in 2003. It was inspired by Istanbul, and produced by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, Tanztheater Wuppertal and Pina Bausch. With its world premiere held in Istanbul, it was a box office success with sold out performances for a whole week, later being staged in Wuppertal, Paris and Berlin. Reflecting the striking choreographies of Pina Bausch, "Nefes” will continue to be shown in other countries. The director Huseyin Karabey grabbed the opportunity to follow Bausch and her team during the rehearsals with a very exclusive permission given to nobody before. The dance is not explained by anyone, there are no dialogs and on the contrary of expectations, music is scarce.
