Abstract: Una bambina triste sta andando a fare visita a sua madre che si trova in carcere. La sua solitudine è immensa. Seduta sul sedile posteriore dell'auto, guarda in silenzio fuori dal finestrino mentre il paesaggio le scorre davanti agli occhi. Il regista Audrius Stonys è ossessionato dal concetto di «cinema puro» e il primo piano di una bambina silenziosa è sufficiente a caricare la scena di emozione, attesa e timore. È consapevole del pericolo di falsificazione della realtà rappresentato dal gesto stesso di filmare, per questo alterna l’osservazione del volto della bambina a scene di preparazione, in cui l'operatore è intento a sistemare la videocamera. “So che la bambina di “Alone” ha incontrato la madre tre mesi dopo, quando la donna è uscita dal carcere, ma si sono viste soltanto per un quarto d'ora: io avevo intuito la solitudine di quella bambina, per questo scelsi quel titolo. Avevo capito che la solitudine era scritta nel suo destino” (A. Stonys).
A sad child is going to pay a visit to her mother in prison. Her loneliness is immense. In the backseat of the car, she silently looks out the window as the landscape unfolds before her eyes. Director Audrius Stonys is obsessed with the concept of «pure cinema», and the first shot of a silent child suffices to pack the scene with emotion, expectation and fear. He is aware of the risk of filming emotional states, feelings and imaginations, as though they represent reality, and therefore alternates such images with scenes of their preparation, of the cameraman loading the camera. “I know the child in Alone met her mother three months later, when the woman got out of prison, but they only saw each other for fifteen minutes: I intuited the child's loneliness, that's why I chose the title. I knew that loneliness was written in her destiny” (A. Stonys).
