Abstract: Il cortometraggio “Flying” si concentra sulla passione del protagonista per gli aeroplani. Walter Uehr mostra come costruisce modellini di aerei in legno e noi lo accompagniamo quando il sogno della sua vita si realizza: il primo viaggio nelle Alpi come passeggero su un ‘vero’ aereo. Il film mostra una parte della personalità di un essere umano, senza alcun commento o la volontà di schermare la persona. “Flying” è stato originato dal materiale del mio precedente documentario “This is Walter Speaking”, un ritratto del 76enne Walter Uehr, che si presume sia mentalmente handicappato. Il documentario è stato completato nel settembre 2004. Flying è il secondo cortometraggio dedicato al signor Uehr e costiruisce la parte centrale di una trilogia. Ogni film parla da solo, tuttavia ognuno apre un'altra porta per il protagonista.
The shortfilm “Flying” puts his focus on the protagonists passion for airplanes. Walter Uehr shows how he manufacturs wooden model airplanes and we accompany him, when his lifelong dream comes true: the first trip into the alpes as a passenger on a ‘real’ airplane. The film shows a part of the personality of a human being, without any comments or the willing to screen the person. “Flying” was created from the material of my documentary “This is Walter Speaking”, a portrait of the 76 years old Walter Uehr, who is alleged to be mentally handicapped. The documentary was finished in Sept. 2004. “Flying” is the second short film about Mr. Uehr and, at the same time, the middle part of a trilogie. Each film speaks for itself, however each one opens another door to the protagonist.
