Abstract: Quattro uomini attorno ad un tavolino. Stanno giocando a carte. Un quinto uomo li sta osservando, seduto vicino a loro. Mentre la partita a carte comincia a movimentarsi, uno di loro inizia quella che sarà “la giostra della memoria”, ricordando che sono passati venticinque anni dalla bomba alla stazione di Bologna. Parlano in dialetto bolognese, continuando a giocare a carte e sul loro dialogo si forma il ricordo di Piera Degli Esposti, che parla della sua stazione, delle sue emozioni, delle sue attese... Inizia così il viaggio attraverso i ricordi di sessanta uomini e donne. Un viaggio che inizia quella mattina, verso Ie 6, quando la città ha cominciato a svegliarsi, con il torpore del primo caldo sabato d’agosto addosso. E poi la bomba. Vite spezzate, distrutte, cambiate... salvate. Attraverso il racconto di chi è stato protagonista involontario della macchina di solidarietà che Bologna ha saputo creare quel giorno, riviviamo quei momenti: davanti alla stazione, negli ospedali, nelle lunghe file per poter donare il sangue, negli uffici di assistenza creati ad hoc dal Comune, sull’autobus che trasportava i cadaveri verso i siti di medicina legale. Come in un coro greco, i protagonisti di quel giorno, porgono la loro storia ed è il ricordo che emerge dal coro, dando così forza allo spirito che quel giorno li ha guidati.
Four men are around a small table. They are playing cards. A fifth man is watching them, sitting next to them. As the card game begins to get going, one of them begins what will be "the merry-go-round of memory", recalling that twenty-five years have passed since the bombing at Bologna station. They speak in Bolognese dialect, continuing to play cards and their dialogue forms the memory of Piera Degli Esposti, who talks about her station, her emotions, her expectations... Thus begins the journey through the memories of sixty men and women. A journey that began that morning, around six o'clock, when the city began to wake up, with the torpor of the first hot Saturday in August. And then the bomb. Lives broken, destroyed, changed... saved. Through the stories of those who were involuntary protagonists of the solidarity machine that Bologna was able to create that day, we relive those moments: in front of the station, in the hospitals, in the long lines to donate blood, in the assistance offices created ad hoc by the City, on the bus that transported the corpses to the sites of forensic medicine. As in a Greek chorus, the protagonists of that day tell their story and their memory emerges from the chorus, giving strength to the spirit that guided them that day.
