Abstract: 1897: Insieme al padre e a tre parenti, Minik, un giovane eschimese, viene portato dalla Groenlandia a New York dall'esploratore artico Robert Peary per servire come soggetto di studi scientifici. Poco tempo dopo il loro arrivo tutti gli eschimesi muoiono, tranne Minik. Le loro ossa scompaiono nella collezione antropologica dell'American Museum of Natural History. Minik vive in America per 12 anni finché non riesce a tornare in Groenlandia. Questo drammatico racconto di una vita intrappolata tra due culture getta un'ombra oscura sulla nascente scienza antropologica dell'epoca.
1897: Together with his father and three relatives, the young Eskimo lad called Minik is taken from Greenland to New York by the Arctic explorer Robert Peary to serve as an object of scientific study. Within a short time all the Eskimos, apart from Minik, have perished. Their bones disappear into the anthropological collection of the American Museum of Natural History. Minik lives in America for 12 years until he succeeds in returning to Greenland. This dramatic account of a life trapped between two cultures casts a dark shadow on the nascent science of anthropology of the time.
