Abstract: "Il film parla del mio incontro, attraverso Internet, con tre giovani donne camerunesi (Nadège, Amélie, Léonie) che non sono affatto benestanti, ma che hanno un sorprendente talento artistico, e del mio desiderio di vederle non come modelle nella vetrina di un negozio di uomini bianchi, o come dati statistici da studiare o filmare, ma come amiche e compagne d'arte. Il film affronta questioni emotive (amore e amicizia) che spesso si nascondono dietro la telecamera di un documentarista o di un antropologo al lavoro in un paese lontano; è un argomento che spesso né il cinema né l'antropologia hanno il coraggio di affrontare. Internet non è il tema principale. È piuttosto la forza motrice della storia. Il tema principale è quello dell'incontro, e in particolare la perdita di un amore (con Nadège) che non si è concretizzato dal virtuale al reale; così come il mio desiderio di non perdere l'amicizia delle altre protagoniste. Il mio viaggio, anzi, serve a concretizzare questa amicizia, ascoltando e condividendo i loro sogni e la loro vita quotidiana, come una vera amicizia deve fare, e come solo il cinema può rappresentare e testimoniare. L'altra originalità consiste nel fatto che uso gli acquerelli di Ivo Milazzo per mostrare il passato, i sogni e le emozioni dei protagonisti, spesso sono difficili da rappresentare in un documentario". "The film is about my meeting, through the Internet, with three young Cameroonian women (Nadège, Amélie, Léonie) who are by no means well-off, but who have surprising artistic talent, and my desire to see them not as models in the window of a white man's shop, or as statistics to be studied or filmed, but as friends and fellow artists. The film deals with emotional issues (love and friendship) that are often hidden behind the camera of a documentary filmmaker or anthropologist working in a distant country; it is a subject that often neither cinema nor anthropology have the courage to address. The Internet is not the main theme. It is rather the driving force behind the story. The main theme is that of encounter, and in particular the loss of a love (with Nadège) that did not materialise from the virtual world to the real one; as well as my desire not to lose the friendship of the other protagonists. On the contrary, my journey serves to make this friendship concrete, by listening to and sharing their dreams and their daily lives, as a true friendship must do, and as only cinema can represent and bear witness to. The other originality consists in the fact that I use Ivo Milazzo's watercolours to show the past, the dreams and the emotions of the protagonists, which are often difficult to represent in a documentary".
