Abstract: La lavanderia di Natalya è molto semplice: quattro lavatrici in fila, qualche asciugatrice, qualche pianta e un televisore che le tiene compagnia. Natalya è russa, è nata in Unione Sovietica; oggi il suo paese appartiene al Kazakistan. Ha lasciato la sua patria dieci anni fa per stabilirsi a Buenos Aires con tutta la sua famiglia. Stava scappando dal post-socialismo; dalla disoccupazione e dalla violenza. Prima della Perestroika, Natalya lavorava come contabile. Quando è arrivata in Argentina, non riusciva a trovare un lavoro e ha deciso di mettersi in proprio. Tuttavia, non si sta ancora godendo questo nuovo stile di vita, le mancano i tempi socialisti. Secondo lei era il "miglior sistema del mondo", tutti avevano lavoro e vacanze. Infatti, sogna una vita migliore, ed è per questo che ha partecipato a un grande sorteggio su internet.
Natalya’s laundrette is really simple: four washing machines in a row, a few dryers, some plants and a TV set to sep her company. Natalya is Russian, she was born in the USSR, but now her country belongs to Kazakhstan. She left her homeland ten years ago to settle down in Buenos Aires with her whole family. She was running away from post socialism; of its unemployment and its violence. Before the Perestroika, Natalya was an accountant. When she arrived to Argentina, she couldn’t find a job and she decided to set up her own business. However, she’s still not quite enjoying this new way of life, she misses the socialist times. According to her it was the “best system in the world”, everybody had work and holidays. In fact, she dreams of a better life. That is why she took part in a great draw on the internet.
