Abstract: Alcuni cacciatori si muovono in gruppo, tentando di stanare la loro preda. Sanno esattamente come muoversi. I loro sensi sono tesi allo spasimo. Le armi salde in pugno. Ogni suono o rumore è studiato con la massima attenzione. All’improvviso si corre a perdifiato. Ma si impara anche a stare immobili. Ad aspettare. E poi ci sono i rituali che uniscono tra loro i cacciatori. Poco alla volta si sprofonda nei recessi più oscuri dell’anima umana. Nelle zone più ancestrali dell’uomo. Come per effetto di un cruento sortilegio, il film ci trascina agli albori dell’umanità: quando l’essere umano era solo un animale tra gli altri. La preda viene inseguita senza pietà. I cani abbaiano ebbri e feroci, fiutando l’aria. Ma la preda non si vede mai. Non un film 'sulla caccia' o 'contro' la caccia, ma un film 'dentro' lo spirito della caccia. “Il mio vuole essere un film silenzioso e contemplativo per immergere lo spettatore in un mondo sconosciuto nel quale non possa avere appigli se non le traiettorie degli uomini che stiamo seguendo. Nella foresta ho avvertito che mi stavo confrontando con qualcosa che non avevo mai conosciuto prima, ma che faceva già parte di me. In quel momento ho capito che c’era un film da fare”. (A. Comodin)
A group of hunters advance like a pack in search of their prey. They know exactly how to move. Their senses are taut, weapons held in a tight grip. Every sound is studied with the utmost attention. Sudden, breathless running. But also moments of stillness, Of waiting. Then there are the shared rituals that unite the hunters. Slowly, we slip into the darkest recesses of the human spirit, into the most primordial zones of the human being. We are dragged, as if under a cruel spell, back to the dawn of humanity, when we were just animals like all the others. The prey is hunted without pity. The dogs sniff the air and bark excitedly and ferociously. But we never see the prey. The film is not «about» hunting or «against» hunting but is «inside» the spiritù of hunting. “I wanted to make a silent, contemplative film that draws the spectator into an unknown world in which there is nothing to get a grip on if not the trajectories of the men we are following. In the forest I sensed that I was coming into contact with something I had never experienced before, but which was already part of me. And that in that moment I understood there was a film to be made.” (A. Comodin)
