Abstract: Nel 1982 una classe di 26 ragazzi ha frequentato una scuola d'élite di matematica per prepararsi ad un futuro brillante - fino a quando non è arrivata la Perestroika. Oggi, quegli alunni sono sparsi in tutto il mondo; quasi nessuno di loro è ancora impiegato nella ricerca scientifica. Con questo film Ekaterina Eremenko intraprende un viaggio molto personale nel suo passato per incontrare ancora una volta i suoi ex compagni di classe e scoprire cosa ne è stato di loro. Basato sulle leggi della fisica, un tempo insegnate nella scuola, "My class" racconta la storia di una generazione drammaticamente influenzata dai cambiamenti politici. In 14 capitoli la regista racconta le storie dei suoi compagni di classe - ieri e oggi. Ogni capitolo è introdotto da un esperimento di fisica. Così il film guida il pubblico attraverso la storia della scienza dai tempi antichi alla modernità e allo stesso tempo racconta le storie dei compagni di classe dal giorno della laurea in Unione Sovietica alla loro vita in una società di libero mercato. "My Class"è un film sull'appartenenza e la migrazione di lavoratori altamente qualificati, sulla tradizione e la globalizzazione, sul materialismo e l'idealismo e infine sull'identità nazionale e personale.
In 1982 a class of 26 youngsters attended an elite school for mathematics to prepare for a bright future – until Perestroika happens. Today, those pupils are spread all over the world; hardly any of them are still employed with scientific research. With her film Ekaterina Eremenko undertakes a very personal journey into her past in order to meet her former classmates once again and to find out, what has become of them. Based upon the laws of physics, once taught at the school, "My class" tells the story of a generation that was dramatically influenced by the political changes. In 14 chapters the director tells the stories of her classmates – then and now. Each chapter is introduced by a physics experiment. Thus the film guides the audience through the history of science from ancient times to modernity while at the same time telling the stories of the classmates from graduation day in the Soviet Union into a life in a free market society. “My Class” is a film about belonging and the migration of highly qualified workers, about tradition and globalisation, about materialism and idealism and last but not least about national and personal identity.
