Abstract: Ci sono momenti nella vita che tutti temiamo di dover affrontare. Momenti in cui la fine diventa più imminente; la nostra o quella di una persona a noi cara. C'è una casa chiamata "Rive-Neuve", che offre cure palliative, dove sappiamo, che fino a quel momento tanto temuto, la vita può ancora illuminarci e stupirci. Lontano da ogni preconcetto di un luogo sinistro e impersonale per morire, "D'une rive à l'autre" presenta uno spazio vitale dove il sostegno si stringe alla condivisione, dove l'autenticità delle relazioni umane permette di esprimere e affrontare le paure. Come luogo che siamo invitati ad esplorare, il film presenta, senza pretese, la vita quotidiana della casa, con le sue gioie e i suoi dolori, ma, soprattutto, con un magnifico messaggio di fede nella natura umana.
There are moments in life that we all fear having to face. Moments when the end becomes more imminent; our own or that of a loved one. But there is a house called "Rive-Neuve", a palliative care home, where we know that, until that time we so apprehend, life can still enlighten and astonish us. Far from any preconceptions of a sinister and impersonal place to die, "D’une rive à l’autre" presents a living space where support goes together with sharing, where the authenticity of human relationships allows fears to be expressed and confronted. Like the place we are invited to explore, the film presents, without pretence, the daily life of the house, with its joys and sorrows, but, above all, with a magnificent message of faith in human nature.
