Abstract: Come un road movie lungo la superstrada dell'informazione, ".In for Motion" indaga le recenti innovazioni delle tecnologie informatiche in India. Negli ultimi decenni, il settore dell'IT è cresciuto ad un ritmo vertiginoso, e gli abitanti dell'India ne hanno sentito le conseguenze. Molti indiani hanno trovato lavoro in un'azienda informatica o in un call center e, per molti di loro, il tenore di vita è aumentato considerevolmente. Gli sviluppi nelle telecomunicazioni hanno reso il mondo più piccolo e l'informazione è diventata più accessibile a tutti. Ma allo stesso tempo, molte persone sembrano aver perso il contatto con la propria storia e una parte della propria identità culturale. Il regista Anirban Datta ha messo insieme un insieme di storie che forniscono un quadro caleidoscopico di ciò che i cambiamenti significano per il popolo indiano. Ha intervistato contadini che hanno perso la loro terra a causa della rapida espansione di Calcutta, impiegati di call center che lavorano per compagnie internazionali, e suo padre, che è stato uno dei pionieri nello sviluppo dei primi computer negli anni '50. Like a road movie along the information superhighway, ".In for Motion" investigates recent innovations in Informatcs Technologies in India. In the past few decades, the IT sector there has grown at a breakneck pace, and the people of India have felt the consequences. Lots of Indians have found a job in a computer company or call centre, and for many of them the standard of living has increased drastically. Developments in telecommunications have made the world a smaller place, and information has become more accessible for everyone. But at the same time, many people seem to be losing touch with their history and a part of their own cultural identity. Filmmaker Anirban Datta put together an ensemble of stories that provide a kaleidoscopic picture of what the changes mean for the Indian people. He interviewed farmers who lost their land to the rapid expansion of Calcutta, call centre employees who work for international companies, and his father, who was one of the pioneers in developing the first computers back in the 1950s. And he travelled to the extreme northeast of the country, where a unique language is in danger of extinction because of the increasing dominance of English and Hindi.
