Questo documentario riscopre la voce preziosa di Consolo attraverso i suoi testi e le immagini della sua Sicilia, Dalle profondità del Mito dell’isola emerge una lettura lucida della Storia siciliana e italiana dal Dopoguerra ad oggi: l’emigrazione verso il Nord, la vita dei minatori delle zolfare, la fine del mondo contadino, l’industrializzazione e le devastazioni del territorio, i terremoti e le selvagge ricostruzioni, le stragi mafiose di ieri e di oggi. Una storia che lo scrittore stesso ha vissuto in prima persona, condividendola con alcuni tra i più importanti intellettuali italiani: Moravia, Levi, Pasolini, Sciascia.
A journey through the evocative and heartbreaking Sicily of Vincenzo Consolo. An original portrait of the island through the eyes of the writer, but also a portrait of the man and the artist through the lights and shadows of his land. This documentary rediscovers Consolo's precious voice through his texts and images of his Sicily. From the depths of the island's myth emerges a lucid reading of Sicilian and Italian history from the post-war period to the present: emigration to the North, the life of the miners in the zolfare, the end of the peasant world, industrialization and the devastation of the territory, earthquakes and wild reconstructions, the Mafia massacres of yesterday and today. A story that the writer himself has lived in first person, sharing it with some of the most important Italian intellectuals: Moravia, Levi, Pasolini, Sciascia.
