Abstract: Caristo è una città rubata dalla storia: fondata dai liguri Statielli venne distrutta nel 173 avanti Cristo dai Romani che in seguito vi edificarono Acquae Statielle. La riedificazione fu un atto riparatore, perchè, caso unico nella storia di Roma, il Senato chiese scusa ai barbari e restituì loro i beni depredati, liberò gli schiavi e poi li fece diventare cittadini romani. Non si conoscono né le ragioni della distruzione né quella del risarcimento; inoltre vi sono fonti di storici del tempo, però non esistono resti archeologici. Neppure la leggenda esiste. Una troupe affronta un viaggio in senso contrario a quello che fece Heinrich Schliemann quando andò alla ricerca di Troia: dalla storia alla ricerca della leggenda.
Caristo is a city stolen from history: founded by the Ligurian Statielli, it was destroyed in 173 B.C. by the Romans who later built Acquae Statielle. The rebuilding was an act of reparation, because, a unique case in the history of Rome, the Senate apologized to the barbarians and returned their looted property, freed the slaves and then made them Roman citizens. Neither the reasons for the destruction, nor that of reparation are known; moreover there are sources of historians of the time, but there are no archaeological remains. Not even the legend exists. A troupe makes a journey in the opposite direction to the one Heinrich Schliemann made when he went in search of Troy: from history to the search of the legend.
