Abstract: Blanchard, Chagui, John, Mambueni e Chance vivono in Prince Street, la strada principale che attraversa la piccola città di Inkisi, a soli 180 km da Kinshasa, capitale della Repubblica Democratica del Congo. Sono chiamati "Chegues", un termine preso in prestito dall'implacabile lotta per la sopravvivenza di Che Guevara. La povertà ha generato la disperazione tra le famiglie, con la conseguente perdita di cultura e tradizioni consolidate da tempo. Una volta al centro dell'unità familiare, i bambini non sono più valutati come il premio dei loro genitori. Per caso questi cinque ragazzi hanno formato un nuovo spazio di solidarietà, qualcosa che gli adulti non sarebbero in grado di fornire. Discriminati, accusati di furto, violenza e perseguitati, vagano per la città giorno e notte. Questa è la storia dei bambini di Inkisi.
Blanchard, Chagui, John, Mambueni and Chance live on Prince Street, the main road crossing through the small town of Inkisi, only 180 Km. from Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. They are referred to as "Chegues", a term borrowed from Che Guevara's relentless struggle for survival. Poverty has generated desperation among families, resulting in the loss of culture and long-established traditions. Once the center of the family unit, children are no longer valued as the prize of their parents. By chance these five boys have formed a new space of solidarity, something that adults wouldn't be able to provide. Discriminated, accused of thievery, violence and haunted, they wander through town day and night. This is the story of the children of Inkisi.
