Abstract: "Cuba RebelioN!"è un documentario sui musicisti cubani underground, punk-rock e metal che si ribellano al regime di Castro. Mostra la lotta quotidiana degli artisti che osano fare una dichiarazione con le loro canzoni. E presenta grande musica - quella che non ti aspetti. Uno di questi musicisti è Gorki Luis Águila Carrasco, del gruppo punk-rock Porno Para Ricardo. Con canzoni anticomuniste come "El Commandante" e "El Cake", la band è diventata molto popolare a Cuba. Nel 2003, quando Gorki aveva appena prodotto un video molto premiato ed era annunciato come la terza rockstar più popolare a Cuba, venne improvvisamente arrestato con l'accusa di traffico di droga. Le organizzazioni per i diritti umani hanno dichiarato che il suo arresto è solo un modo per metterlo a tacere, aveva cause politiche. Dopo due anni Gorki è stato rilasciato, ma è ancora sulla lista nera. Il documentario segue Porno Para Ricardo, la metalband Escape e il gruppo rap/rock QVA Libre, con filmati di concerti e interviste ai musicisti. "Cuba RebelioN!" is a documentary about Cuban underground, punk-rock and metal musicians rebelling against the Castro regime. It shows the daily struggle of artists who dare to make a statement with their songs. And it presents great music - the kind you don't expect. One such musician is Gorki Luis Águila Carrasco, of the punk-rock band Porno Para Ricardo. With anti-communist songs like 'El Commandante' and 'El Cake', the band has become very popular in Cuba. In 2003, when Gorki had just produced a highly awarded video and was heralded as the third most popular rock star in Cuba, he was suddenly arrested on drug trafficking charges. Human rights organisations claimed that his arrest was just a way of silencing him, he had political causes. After two years, Gorki was released, but he is still blacklisted. The documentary follows Porno Para Ricardo, the metal band Escape and the rap/rock group QVA Libre, with concert footage and interviews with the musicians. It shows the painful reality of artists who cannot express themselves publicly. The film is directed by Dutch filmmakers and musicians Alessio Cuomo and Sander de Nooij, who illegally filmed the rise of a new generation of young artists fed up with the communist regime and eager to encourage change with their music, even at the risk of imprisonment.
