Abstract: L'incontro di una comunità per creare e costruire - intorno al fuoco. "Meitheal Tine" esplora lo spazio abitato da un gruppo di ragazzi cattolici dell'Irlanda del Nord, chiamati Bogside Republican Youth. Questi ragazzi nati e cresciuti nel Bogside, dove la Battaglia del Bogside e il Bloody Sunday ebbero luogo negli anni '60 e '70. Molti di loro sono pro Real IRA. Il film mostra il loro particolare rapporto con la loro storia, attraverso la costruzione di un falò che viene fatto ogni anno il 15 agosto. Il falò unisce i ragazzi e parte della comunità di Bogside, in opposizione ai protestanti, che vivono dall'altra parte della città. Questo è rappresentato simbolicamente attraverso il rogo della Union Jack, la bandiera dell'Ulster, emblema della polizia, così come della bandiera israeliana.
The coming together of a community to create and to build – around fire. "Meitheal Tine" explores the space inhabited by a group of Catholic boys in Northern Ireland, called the Bogside Republican Youth. These boys are born and raised in the Bogside, where the Battle of the Bogside and Bloody Sunday took place in the 1960‘s and 1970’s. Many of them are pro Real IRA. The film shows their particular relationship to their history, through the building of a bonfire that is made every year on the 15th of August. The bonfire unites the boys and part of the Bogside community, in opposition to the Protestants, who live on the other side of the town. This is symbolically represented through the burning of the Union Jack, the Ulster flag, representations of the police, as well as the Israeli flag.
