Abstract: Durante la guerra d'Indocina francese, migliaia di bambini eurasiatici sono nati da padre francese (spesso sconosciuto) e da madre vietnamita. Respinti sia dai francesi che dai vietnamiti, la loro esistenza come paria rappresentava una minaccia all'ordine coloniale. Man mano che il loro numero aumentava, furono naturalizzati per decreto legge. Alla fine della guerra, furono messi in orfanotrofio prima di essere "rimpatriati" in Francia, spesso contro la volontà delle loro madri.
During the French Indochina war, thousands of Eurasian children were born of a (often unknown) French father and of a Vietnamese mother. Rejected by both the French and the Vietnamese, their existence as pariahs represented a threat to colonial order. As their number increased, they were naturalized by decree. When the war ended, they were placed in orphanages before being "repatriated" back to France, often against their mother's will.
