Abstract: Ritratto poetico della vita in un magazzino di self storage, "Steel Homes" esplora la natura frammentata dei ricordi, incastonata nella bellezza estetica del nostro moderno mondo industriale. I magazzini automatici sono finestre sulle storie umane: le celle silenziose con i loro oggetti scartati e i mobili coperti di polvere sono piene di sogni passati, speranze segrete e vite che non possiamo lasciare andare. Passando da una gabbia d'acciaio all'altra, incontriamo storie di crepacuore, solitudine e disperazione; ma anche storie di liberazione, avventura e di allontanamento dal passato. Un motivo ricorrente è quello di persone sospese in una sorta di limbo temporaneo o permanente - persone che hanno perso la loro casa, letteralmente o metaforicamente.
A poetic portrait of life at a self storage warehouse, "Steel Homes" explores the fragmented nature of memories, set in the starkly beautiful aesthetic of our modern industrial world. Self-storage units are windows into human histories: the silent cells with their discarded objects and dust-covered furniture are inscribed with past dreams, secret hopes and lives we cannot let go off. Moving from steel cage to steel cage, we encounter tales of heartbreak, loneliness and despair, mixed together with stories of liberation, adventure and leaving the past behind. One recurring motive is of people in a kind of temporary or permanent limbo - people who have lost their homes, either literally or metaphorically.
