Abstract: Documentario diviso in quattro parti. Parte 1 - "Effort for Love", di Ani Ema Susanti. Parte 2- "What’s the Point?", di Iwan Setiawan e M. Ichsan. Parte 4 - "Our Children’s Fund", di Ucu Agustin.

Documentary divided into four parts. Part 1 - "Effort for Love", by Ani Ema Susanti. Documentary inspired by the many Indonesian women struggling to survive in a Muslim society where a woman's body is considered the gateway to sin. Ruwati and Riantini are two migrants who work as domestic workers in Hong Kong. They are well paid and are the main source of livelihood for their families who have remained in Java. From the outside, they appear to be accomplished women, but both are facing a dilemma in their love lives. Ru is about to return home to get married, but has just discovered she has cervical cancer. Medical treatment requires an internal examination, which could damage her virginity. Riantini, who is divorced, has fallen in love with a colleague who has also migrated to Hong Kong. Torn between feelings of guilt and a desire for happiness, both will be able to decide what is best for them in life and in love. Part 2- "What's the Point?", by Iwan Setiawan and M. Ichsan. This episode deals with the practice of female circumcision in Indonesia. Although female circumcision in Indonesia does not remove the entire clitoris and vaginal lips, like that practised in Africa, it is still widely practised. The motivation is to purify the girl and to hinder the action of the evil spirit that could lead her into a promiscuous sex life. Even today, many people are not aware of the dangers of this practice. Part 3 - "Miss. Mrs.?", by Lucky Kuswandi. In Jakarta, women can easily have access to "glossy" magazines, designer labels or the latest cosmetics. But finding a gynaecologist who does not judge them is not easy. The film follows single unmarried women's quest to get the right treatment for their health. Most of them encounter unpleasant attitudes from the nurses and doctors in the hospital. When an unmarried woman wants to find the right form of contraception, she does not meet with the approval of the nurses and doctors and is even reprimanded for her moral conduct. Part 4 - "Our Children's Fund", by Ucu Agustin. Chinese cemeteries are renowned for their large and elaborate graves. People believe that the higher the ground, the closer the spirit will be to heaven. In East Java, you will find the famous Chinese cemetery of Mount Bolo. After sunset, the place offers a different kind of "service" to the public: it turns into an illegal prostitution zone. Nur and Mira are two mothers who work as stone breakers by the nearby river. Their daily pay is not enough to cover their expenses, so at the standard rate of 10,000 rupees (US$1 per service), these women must prostitute themselves by lying on the hard surface of the gravestones.
