Abstract: Nata negli Stati Uniti da genitori finlandesi, Carolyn Carlson occupa un posto unico nella scena della danza francese. Fa parte di quegli artisti migranti che hanno scelto di vivere e creare in un paese che non è il loro, ma che hanno totalmente adottato. Stella dell'Alwyn Nikolais Theater di New York, Carolyn Carlson arrivò in Francia all'inizio degli anni '70 e fondò il mitico GRTOP, il gruppo di ricerca teatrale dell'Opera di Parigi, dove divenne una figura di spicco nella nascita della nuova danza francese. Born in the United States of Finnish parents, Carolyn Carlson occupies a unique place on the French dance scene. She is one of those migrant artists who have chosen to live and create in a country that is not their own, but which they have totally adopted. Star of the Alwyn Nikolais Theater in New York, Carolyn Carlson arrived in France in the early 1970s and founded the legendary GRTOP, the theatrical research group of the Paris Opera, where she became a leading figure in the birth of new French dance. Choreographer and dancer Carolyn Carlson has created more than seventy works, including solos that have gone down in dance history, such as 'Blue Lady', and pieces for large ensembles, such as 'Signes' for the Paris National Opera Ballet. Carolyn Carlson's mark on the world of contemporary dance is indelible. "Le regard du geste" is an incursion into the world of Carolyn Carlson, sharing with us the key moments of her life and career. From the American hippy period of the 1960s to the direction of the National Choreographic Centre of Roubaix Pas de Calais, Carolyn Carlson leads us on the path of creation; dance, poetry, music, calligraphy, in gestures and words Carlson confides her passion for dance and for life.
