Abstract: Il film è un racconto di viaggio. Un viaggio attraverso il Mediterraneo che ritrae storie di luoghi e di personaggi che di quei luoghi rappresentano una chiave di lettura. La vicenda principale si svolge intorno ad un personaggio reale, il fotografo corso Antoine Giacomoni che, da circa 30 anni, immortala soggetti allo specchio. Per le sue "mirror sessions", ha fotografato grandi star del rock, come Nico dei Velvet Underground, i Sex Pistols, Lou Reed e molti altri. Circa 11 anni fa, Antoine ha perso la vista, che ha riacquistato gradualmente, pur rimanendo molto sensibile alla luce: un fatto sconvolgente per un artista dell'immagine, un evento forte che ha cambiato la sua vita. Da Parigi si ritira in Corsica. Ricomincia a fotografare. E da questa premessa nasce l’idea del film, che inizia dalla decisione di Antoine di intraprendere un nuovo lungo viaggio nel Mediterraneo: un viaggio "fuori rotta", reale e metaforico allo stesso tempo. Un itinerario per riappropriarsi del suo sguardo sulle cose, sul mondo e sugli uomini, che ci regala una nuova prospettiva. Tutti i luoghi ed i personaggi che incontrerà, alcuni noti, altri sconosciuti, rappresentano un frammento del Mediterraneo di oggi, del posto che rappresenta il cuore del nostro passato più antico, l’essenza del presente e che simboleggia il luogo del viaggio per eccellenza.
This film is a travel story. A journey across the Mediterranean portraying stories of places and characters who represent a key to understanding those places. The main story revolves around a real-life character, Corsican photographer Antoine Giacomoni, who has been immortalising mirror subjects for some 30 years. For his "mirror sessions", he has photographed great rock stars, such as Nico of the Velvet Underground, the Sex Pistols, Lou Reed and many others. About 11 years ago, Antoine lost his sight, which he gradually regained while remaining very sensitive to light: a shocking event for an image artist, a powerful event that changed his life. From Paris he retired to Corsica. Then he began to photograph again. This is the idea behind the film, which begins with Antoine's decision to embark on another long journey in the Mediterranean: a journey that is both real and metaphorical at the same time. An itinerary to regain possession of his gaze on things, on the world and on men, which gives us a new perspective. And all the places and characters he will meet, some well-known, some unknown, represent a fragment of today's Mediterranean, the place that represents the heart of our most ancient past, the essence of the present and that symbolises the place of the journey par excellence.
