Abstract: Perché esistono ancora i missionari? Cosa li spinge ad andare in luoghi estremi per vivere e lavorare? Per cosa sono disposti a sacrificare la loro vita? Sono le stesse ragioni che, 500 anni fa, li facevano navigare per tutto il mondo? Quattro donne cristiane in un mondo musulmano e maschile. Le Suore Missionarie della Consolata stanno costruendo una nuova biblioteca a Empada, piccolo villaggio nel sud della Guinea-Bissau, in Africa occidentale. Lavorano come una ONG, ma in realtà sono andate lì perché vogliono offrire la loro vita a chi non ha ancora incontrato Cristo. Vogliono portare agli altri la loro fede. Con altre competenze e altri metodi, condividono gli stessi propositi dei primi missionari che arrivarono in Africa.
Why do missionaries still exist? What drives them to go to extreme places to live and work? What are they willing to sacrifice their lives for? Are they the same reasons that made them sail around the world 500 years ago? Four Christian women in a Muslim and male world. The Missionary Sisters of the Consolata are building a new library in Empada, a small village in the south of Guinea-Bissau, West Africa. They work as an NGO, but in reality they went there because they want to offer their lives to those who have not yet met Christ. They want to bring their faith to others. With other skills and methods, they share the same intentions as the first missionaries who came to Africa.
