Abstract: "Droga"è un film documentario che cerca di sviluppare nuove qualità nel suo genere. Mostra un incontro di jazzisti provenienti da USA, Brasile e Polonia, il cui unico modo di comunicare è suonare insieme. Bianco e nero, immagini sgranate e intertitoli ricordano i vecchi film muti. La storia inizia con alcune frasi: "Sono venuti da tre diverse parti del mondo. Non si erano mai incontrati prima, si erano solo sentiti. E hanno fatto il tour insieme". Sono le prime e le ultime parole del film. Tutto il resto della storia è raccontato con immagini e musica o con il nero e il silenzio. Le variazioni di altissimo livello del mondo del jazz sono montate in inquadrature mute. Ritratti e immagini emozionali sono messi accanto a pause nere. Tutto ciò fa sì che i sensi del pubblico si concentrino su questa composizione polifonica. Il cineasta ha viaggiato con i musicisti di Sao Paulo Underground e Mikrokolektyw attraverso la Polonia e la Repubblica Ceca. Ha osservato pazientemente gli artisti sia durante le loro performance che dietro le quinte. Grazie a questo, possiamo vederli ispirati ed esausti, in estasi o in follia. Alcuni concerti unici e spontanei sono catturati nel film - quelli eseguiti senza il pubblico, per gli alberi (nella foresta), per il mare (sul capo). I suoni di Sao Paulo Underground sono la combinazione di free-jazz e ritmi brasiliani insieme ad audaci esperimenti informatici. Il loro disco "The Principle of Intrusive Relationships" ha raggiunto la top 50 dei migliori album della rivista "Wire".
"The Way" is a documentary film that tries to develop new qualities in its genre. It shows a meeting of jazz-mans from USA, Brazil and Poland, whose only way to communicate is playing music together. Black and White, grainy pictures and text cards reminds old silent movies. The story begins with sentences: "They came from three different parts of the world. They never meet before, they just heard each other. And they played the tour together". These are the first and last words in the film. All the rest of the story is told with pictures and music or with blackness and silence. Jazz world highest level variations are edited with mute shots. Emotional portraits and pictures are set next to black pauses. All that makes the audience senses focused on this polyphonic composition. Filmmaker traveled with musicians of Sao Paulo Underground and Mikrokolektyw through turne around Poland and Czech Republic. He observed the artists patiently in the middle of performances as well as behind the scenes. Thanks to this, we might watch them inspired and exhausted, in ecstasy or in madness. Some unique and spontaneous concerts are caught in the film – the ones performed without the audience, for trees (in the forest), for the sea (on the cape). The sounds of Sao Paulo Underground are the combination of free-jazz and Brazilian rhythms together with daring computer experiments. Their record "The Principle of Intrusive Relationships" reached top 50 of the best albums of "Wire" magazine.
